Department: Training and Development
Company is one of the largest private employers in Bahrain. It has a
current work force of 3,200 employees and has for over 75 years operated
a large integrated oil refinery with associated infrastructure.
The Company's HR and Administration Division is responsible for the
human resources management function and other services, such as the
running of the medical & housing services, security and public
relations.
The job holder will work in the Training and Development Department,
which provides training and development services to meet the company's
present and future learning and development needs. The job holder will
report directly to the Superintendent – Communication Skills and
Information Systems Development.
SALARY:(TAX FREE):
Salary is negotiable depend on experience, qualifications and current
earnings.
LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
Two year contract, renewable by mutual consent. Employment is offered
subject to satisfactory medical exam results, employment references and
securing a work and residence permit from the Bahrain authorities.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The selected candidate will join us Communication Skills team in
delivering the Company’s well-established English language programme.
The person appointed will be of native speaker standard, qualified to
postgraduate level (Teaching Certificate / Diploma as a minimum) and
will have at least five years’ experience in delivering English
language training to an advanced level in an industrial environment,
preferably in the Middle East. They should also have proven experience
in preparing candidates for international examinations, including
Cambridge Examinations and IELTS. The appointee will also be familiar
with e-learning, and will be able to take forward our intent to
implement a wide ranging blended learning programme. Proven ability to
develop and deliver communication skills programmes (including report
writing and presentation skills) is essential, and knowledge of language
test development will be advantageous.
TYPE OF WORK:
Purpose: to identify, develop and conduct English language and
communication skills training programmes, processes and activities to
ensure that company employees are provided with the skills and abilities
that are needed for current performance in their jobs, and to enable
their development. Programmes may be generic or as a response to a
functional / work group requirement. A critical element is to develop
content to exploit current technology, including e-learning. The
appointee will also be expected to develop and deliver programmes in
other areas, as required.
The job has a direct and major impact on employee development and on
employee performance at work. The appointee will:
Be directly responsible for management and development of up to 150
employees / course places on 8/9 Business English courses per year. Each
course runs for approximately 75 hours (day shift) and 45 hours (Shift).
Shift courses require the appointee to work two / three hour of paid
overtime a week.
Develop and deliver 2 – 5 skills workshops per year, up to 12
participants, per workshop.
Be required, on an ongoing basis, to modify course content and materials
to meet requirements of individuals and groups.
Monitor and record attendance for all courses.
Be familiar with current learning technology, for learning delivery and
to conduct assessments. This includes working familiarity with the
theory and practice of e-learning, including development of content.
Be directly responsible for preparation of employees for internationally
accredited external examinations.
Have a contributory role as subject matter expert in major projects.
STATUS:
Contracts are offered on single or married status.
TRANSPORT:
A driving licence is considered necessary, as public transport is quite
limited.
SHIFT PATTERN:
Day Shift is of eight hours duration from 7:00am - 3:30pm with a half
hour unpaid lunch break. The local weekend is Friday and Saturday.
INTERVIEW:
Reimbursement of public transport fares across the U.K. / Ireland will
be provided. Candidates already established in the Middle East may be
interviewed locally.
